Editor for Middle Eastern and Caucasian Studies
Maria S. Thomas is a researcher on the FWF-START project Generative Authority at the University of Vienna, where she studies the reception and representation of secondary figures of Early Christianity in late antique and medieval Syriac literature.
Her research interests include the materiality of texts, digital epigraphy and the encoding of inscriptions using EpiDoc standards, manuscript production and circulation in the medieval Middle East, and the use of social network analysis (SNA) to investigate book history and patterns of textual and material transmission.
She is currently co-editing a volume for Digital Classics Books titled “Emerging Digital Methods and Practices in Byzantine Studies and Related Fields”.
