Claudia Simonelli is a Research Fellow in Ancient Christian Literature at the Department of Asian and North African Studies, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where she completed her master’s degree in Oriental Languages. In her thesis, she had been focusing on the Syriac and Arabic translation of the Hippocratic Aphorisms made by the Iraqi Christian physician Ḥunayn ibn Isḥāq (ca. 808-873).

Claudia is currently working as a Digital Humanist in the ERC project FLOS, within which she is specializing in Syriac digital philology, codicology and palaeography. She is supporting the preparation of the digital critical edition of some patristic florilegia preserved in manuscripts produced between 700 and 1000 CE.
