Joanne Bernardi is professor of Japanese and Visual & Cultural Studies at the University of Rochester. She directs Re-Envisioning Japan: Japan as Destination in 20th Century Visual and Material Culture, a collaborative multimedia DH project based on her original collection of tourism, education, and entertainment ephemera, including recuperated small-gauge film and sheet music recordings. She has published on Japanese cinema; silent cinema, moving image and media history, historiography, and preservation; digital scholarship and pedagogy; collecting and cultural heritage; and Godzilla and nuclear culture.
