Contributor for Central Asian Studies
Michel Wong did his bachelor’s at the University of Hong Kong in Japanese Studies, but became interested in Central Asia after reading the Japanese comicbook series Otoyomegatari by Mori Kaoru (which has absolutely FANTASTIC art and which you totally should read). He knew some Russian at that point but thought it wise to learn something of the Central Asian languages as well, so he went to do a masters at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where a now retired professor introduced him to the weird and wonderful world of Turkic manuscripts. He now specializes in Chaghatai and Ottoman Turkish materials and is especially interested in their digitalization.
