Are you good with social media and do you know a fair few things about Digital Humanities? Or are you eager to learn about those things? Come and join The Digital Orientalist as its dedicated social media manager!
You will be volunteering your time to expand DO in new directions, consolidating DO as the premier platform for discussing the integration of Digital Humanities into Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. Much of the new plans you will have an equal say in, and you will be able to pitch ideas yourself, then execute them.
Anybody is encouraged to apply, but the position will most likely be of interest to graduate students. Digital Humanities is very popular right now, and will be so for a good many years. Meanwhile, only very few people in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies can claim to be experts. Becoming part of this select group will therefore be a very attractive addition to your profile, once you are out on the job market. By working with DO, you will thus not only learn a lot about Digital Humanities, but you will also be able to get your name out to thousands of scholars around the world and get tangible evidence to put on your CV.
You will get out of it what you put into it, but at minimum you should think of two hours per week.
