About Zezhou Yang

I am currently a final-year PhD candidate in South Asian Studies at SOAS, University of London. Having just submitted my thesis, I am awaiting my viva. My PhD project investigates alternative methods for remapping Nepali Studies, reconceptualising a knowledge framework that values the voices and perspectives of ordinary Asian actors instead of merely treating them as raw materials. My academic interests include the transcultural interaction between East and South Asia, nuances of everyday life, popular culture, and qualitative research methods. My ultimate dream is to write an adventure story set in the Himalayas that challenges Orientalist stereotypes.
